Messages

Overview

The messaging system in Peaky Twins allows paired partners to communicate with each other directly within the app. You and your partner share a single Conversation_Thread — one continuous thread that contains all the free-form messages and nudge references exchanged between you.

Accessing Messages

The messaging feature is accessed via the Messages item in the app sidebar, which navigates to the /messaging route. From there you can read your conversation history and send new messages.

The Messages sidebar item shows a Notification_Indicator — an unread badge — with the count of unread messages when there are messages you have not yet read. The badge disappears once you open the conversation and all messages are marked as read.

Partner Requirement

Messaging is only available to users who have an active Partner. If you do not yet have a partner, navigating to the Messages page will show a prompt to find one instead of the message thread. Once you are paired with a partner, the full conversation interface becomes available.

Nudge References

In addition to free-form text messages, either partner can send a nudge — a special message that references a specific Goal, Challenge, or Task. Nudges appear in the Conversation_Thread as Nudge_References: entries that include a link directly to the referenced item.

Nudges are a lightweight way to prompt your partner to check on a specific item — for example, to remind them that a Challenge Task is due soon or to celebrate a completed Goal.
